The U.S. Army issue is awesome and camo. But seriously if you place your mouth near the opening for winter camping you will cut down on the inside condensation if you even got any. I want a new one so bad. They didn’t let me keep mine when I got out.

My question is how much condensation would you get in there? Especially concerned if I use it winter camping, too much inside condensation would lower my R value of my sleeping bag inside, not to mention a crappy wet environment.

You guys are my first “subscription” BTW…

The British Army Bivvy Bags is not perfect but I have used them since they became issue in the early 90s and I cant say I have ever had a problem with them. All materials have its limitations. Its important to understand these limitations. When you exceed them you have to expect it to fail. Some materials have a wider use before reaching their limitations or better suit to a situation than another. Most breathable materials need a large temperature and moister gradient from the inside to out.

Selica when it is raining instead of drawing the draw string which will only channel the rain into the bivvy bag turn the bivvy bag over so that the hood is on the top; drape it over your head so the hood lays flat on the ground. The water will now run away from you and onto the floor.

@essexste32 Most gortex is over rated and ppl think its the end all be all of being water tight. Usually through inexperience of actually having to depend on it as opposed to sleeping in a nice comfy civvy tent…I agree they are shiit…I traded my Brit Bivvy for a Dutch one and i picked up a US one for 14$ yesterday..

40-60 bucks thats cheap! just paid about 400 bucks for a Terra Nova bag, for big wall climbing tho, and a thick 4season bag.

Thanx for the video. What brand Bivy is that? Also, do you use a sleeping bag in your Bivy or prefer it without it to save weight?
