The internal packs are getting better. Newer packs have vent tunnels in the back area, sweating isnt an issue like it was before
internal frames suck compared to external
you didnt mention that an external keeps the pack away from your back causing you to sweat less and have much better outside pockets for organization
internal frames are vastly overrated imo
the ‘need’ for a frame is that it transfers the weight off your shoulders and onto your hips so that you dont f*ck up your back carrying 50lbs
without a frame you’re carrying all the weight on your shoulders which in the long run will result in spinal injury, not to mention pain and discomfort
i am on a budget and searching for a new pack preferably internal frame i’ll only need one for a week if u could give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated
such a critic madder. but anyways, I got an internal frame pack from Big5 made by HiTech & it was on sale for $65, it has excellent padded lumbar support & plenty of room for bear canisters, sleeping bag & fleece clothing etc, lots of room, really cheap & comfy, only thing abt it was that the adjustment straps weren’t exactly even on both sides, so it took more careful adjusting, but great strong goretex pack. I always line it with a garbage bag for extra waterproof! happy trails!
That one wasn’t very useful.
Anyway I remover the internal frame in my backpack. Never saw a need for it.
